Brain Health is a general term that is widely used but its true meaning is not widely understood. This course introduces the basis of neuroplasticity and how this concept can be incorporated within mentoring programmes to assess impact and enhance progress.
Grace is the subject of our case study during the course. Whilst Grace is completing an internship programme during her summer break from university she is introduced to the work of Dr Michael Merzenich, professor emeritus neuroscientist at the University of California, San Francisco. The internship experience is a profound one for Grace because the subject matter of her first assignment has personal resonance that eventually diverts her life trajectory and career choice.
By the end of this course you will be able to:
- Provide an overview of Professor Merzenich and his pioneering work in the field of neuroplasticity
- Describe how evidence based neuroplasticity interventions can improve the brain health of a range of people
- Explain how BrainHQ is used to help address specific health conditions
- Evaluate different methods of disseminating this area of applied neuroscience
