BRIDGING NEUROSCIENCE AND THE CLASSROOM: INTRODUCING THE 12-WEEK ENHANCE LESSON FRAMEWORK

In today’s rapidly changing educational landscape, we know that schools are looking for more than just a “sticking plaster” for student wellbeing; they are seeking a structural foundation for long-term success.

To support this mission, Evolve Education is proud to announce the release of a new resource for schools that will enhance the Libra Edition of its ENHANCE Programme for learners in Years 5 to 9. This 12-week scheme of work provides a structured classroom intervention specifically designed to strengthen core neurocognitive skills and complements the accompanying neurocognitive training plan.

A structured path to “Success Mode”

The framework is engineered to align with the principles of neuroplasticity, moving students from a high-stress “survival mode” into a high-performance “success mode”. Each 50–60 minute weekly session follows a consistent, four-part structure to reduce cognitive load and maximise the transfer of skills to the real world:

1. Cognitive Warm-Up (10–15 mins): Interactive games designed to “switch on” specific brain skills.
2. Applied Neuroscience (5–10 mins): Student-friendly explanations of brain processes to build metacognition and understanding.
3. BrainHQ Training (20 mins): Focused digital practice to physically strengthen neural networks.
4. Reflection & Discussion (15–20 mins): Guided sessions that encourage students to apply their cognitive gains to emotional regulation, social behaviour, and academic subjects.

Developing the Six Key Cognitive Domains

The curriculum takes students through three distinct learning phases, targeting the “missing link” between educational theory and the skills needed for success – in school and in life itself.

    • Phase 1: Foundation (Weeks 1–4): Building the building blocks of Attention and efficient information intake.

    • Phase 2: Development (Weeks 5–8): Strengthening Memory and Social Cognition helping students adopt critical thinking and collaborative strategies to solve complex real-world problems

    • Phase 3: Integration (Weeks 9–12): Developing Cognitive Flexibility and Executive Function, the brain’s “command centre” for planning and self-regulation.

Empowering Teachers as Facilitators

The ENHANCE Programme is built on the belief that human relationships are the perfect vehicle for scientific innovation. This resource empowers teachers to move from being mere transmitters of knowledge to facilitators of learning experiences. It includes detailed implementation notes that guide teachers on how to coach student agency, framing difficulties as opportunities for “brain strengthening” rather than failure.

By integrating this framework, schools can provide the tangible, long-term ROI that modern parents expect, ensuring students are not just exam-ready, but life-ready
